Mixed Reality

Introduction:
Mixed reality is the combination of real and virtual worlds to manufacture new environments where material and digital objects co-exist and real time interaction. Mixed reality is referred to hybrid reality. In the physical world or the virtual world, Mixed reality not only take place, but  it is a mixture of reality  and virtual reality, surrounding both augmented virtuality  and augmented reality using immersive technology.In the early 1990,. The first mixed reality system, provide persistent picture, touch and sound was the Virtual Fixtures stage developed at the U.S. Air Force's Armstrong Laboratories  . The Virtual Fixture project at the U.S Air Force established that human performance could be radically augmented by the spatially registered virtual objects overlaid on top of a person’s direct view of real physical environment which was published in 1992.

Distinction between VR(Virtual reality), AR (Augmented reality) and MR(Mixed reality):

The difference between VR, AR, MR are :
·         Virtual reality  immerse users in a completely artificial digital atmosphere.
·         Augmented reality is one of the most-required technology which is growing today.It simply says that AR works over a real world object by developing the virtual  images. The input received from a camera or another input device like smart glasses .Its easy adequate to get information if we’re out and about in the real world with laptop or cell phones just by mention Google and type some words .Virtual objects into the contiguous technology has brought by AR technology.
·         Mixed reality is the combination of real and virtual worlds to manufacture new environments where material and digital objects co-exist and real time interaction. Mixed reality is referred to hybrid reality.

Five benefits of MR:
1.      The technology of mixed reality  is becoming increasingly normal and the manufacturing system can obtain benefit from its use in a many of ways.
2.       Reduce call out times for protection.

3.      Speed up the quality control development

4.      Improve worker preparation

5.      Minimize the skilled labor famine.

Wearable Holographic Computers(Application of MR):

It is a application of MR in which these wearables include sensors that map environment physically and create a holographic  displays. It’s a very interesting application as users for venues can pin holographic images to physical objects. A venue controller is help in event planners to see a layout to have a better appreciation for the space. Different flows experimented like chairs could be rearranged, objects moved
with in  a virtual space with 3D walkthroughs in advance of booking .
Using a wearable holographic computer was to explore the accuracy and feasibility  to guide external ventricular drain (EVD) insertion and  improve the accuracy of the classic freehand addition method for EVD insertion. It also required to provide a clinically applicable workflow expression. The use of a head-mounted mixed-reality holographic computer demonstrates to successfully carry out hologram-assisted bedside EVD insertion.To show how medical imaging data can be used by the neurosurgeon to imagine patient-specific holograms that can intuitively guide hands-on operation which is a set of clinically applicable workflow images is presented. It also provide beginning proof of the accuracy and feasibility of this hologram-guided EVD insertion technique.
