Unschooling & Cooking

Letting children work in kitchen with their will & interest, they discover many talents, have ideas & cook their way. They have time to explore & experiment.

Cooking is life long skill & must be associated with fun, not fear. Being able to cook for oneself & people of house is a total satisfaction & not relying on others.

DO TELL children about kitchen hazards e.g. gas, sharp knife, slippery floor. Tell them precautions like tying hair, wear slippers, rollup sleeves, being vigilant while handling gas stove, check any leaks and make sure to turn off gas. Monitor them!

DO APPRECIATE no matter how the food tastes. It’s all part of learning.

DO NOT disturb children while they are experimenting or playing with raw material or not cooking properly or roaming around house while food is going crazy on stove. It’s all part of healthy learning.

DO NOT compare their food with yours or anyone else.
DO not yell when food is being cooked carelessly or is bad in taste or even when wasted.

Cook easy,

Entrepreneurship & homeschooling

My poetry:
Lo, entrepreneurship
catalyst of excellence, the flare
audacious zest from trickle to a roar, the dare
when passion sparks compassion embarks, the care
Lo, entrepreneurship
Where can your child learn entrepreneurship?
Attending workshops & collecting certificates can create an entrepreneur?? Entrepreneurship is an exploratory voyage fueled by intuition, guided by gut feelings, and driven by understanding of market dynamics. Iterative nature of entrepreneurship equips children with indispensable life skills, preparing them for flux of circumstances ahead. It teaches to tap curiosity & navigate uncertain terrain while learning work ethics.
Uncomfortable becomes the new comfort zone while the child gets hands-on financial literacy.
We, the homeschoolers facilitate our children explore various arts & skills then offer them platforms where they can showcase & sell their creations. Not to mention we do not restrict the thinking process as opposed to some academy where a trainer pours-in same idea for same project then the whole class has same outcome! Is that creativity???
My Role: from facilitating kids to explore various projects & arts to making products & marketing, then to displaying & earning.
Clicks: from various entrepreneurship events where many children marketed their ideas & products. They got appreciation from other parents / visitors. Children’s products/services are sold as well.

PUBLIC SPEAKING, PRESENTATION SKILLS & Homeschoolers

Well, if one is in the delusion that perhaps homeschoolers don’t get opportunities to public speak then axe it henceforth! Homeschoolers have multitude of opportunities organized by homeschooling parents for entire community. With mutual interest, understanding & fulfilling roles; an event takes place successfully!
It’s about building confidence, being caring & friendly, making life-long friends, and for parents it’s digging-out capabilities of children who can perform at their best when are not stressed & free to perform how they want to perform.
Behind the scenes there are rehearsals, mothers responsible for the tasks from writing the manuscript to managing children, from bookings & tickets to catering food & hosting the audience, and from idea to completion of the event. All put efforts but organizers put a lot of time & brains. Applause for them!!!
My role:
Preparing my kids for a dialogue wrt to the event. Facilitating kids to research, write, & deliver with facial expressions & gestures which were even polished by good suggestions of the organizer while rehearsals. Various options for performance were given to my kids by the organizer & they chose exactly what they were happy to perform.
Then during the event I was amongst the volunteer team with other moms & we had many tasks distributed accordingly.
Nota Bene: In academic institutions, the ones who are already good at public speaking, always speak. Rest of the students are always audience. While most if not all homeschooling parents are on toes to dig-out the capabilities of our children.

Homeschoolers Sports Day 2023

 SPORTS, SOCIALIZING & Homeschoolers

Embarking on a sports journey unleashes a realm of potential for children. Sports nurture their camaraderie and resilience while cultivating sportsmanship values. Their cognitive development flourishes improving EQ along with IQ.

Homeschooling families synergize efforts for memorable sports experiences for our children. Our collective endeavors, teamwork, roles distribution, profound sense of community and combined resources shape-up a thriving experience. All put efforts but organizers have a great deal to work for the event. Hats-off to them!!
Color scheme for sports?
Yeah we do have it but it’s not about spending thousands for uniforms from ‘specific’ shop. We wear whatever available at home & it does turn out spectacular on the day!
Who is the winner?
Our type of event is not a boxed & steered fashion, rather encouraging children for ideas then happily implementing those. While there are winners & children know it, the certificates & medals are given to each & every child who participated as the parents are in the management so we do care if our child will feel left-out or might think that the decision was not fair.
Children are children, let them have a memorable childhood!
At the end of the day it’s not about competition, it’s about expanding horizons. It’s about our young passionate athletes whose happy hormones are generated as opposed to the one who stood first was happy while the one who stood last was sad.
My Role:
Well, I was warm-up incharge & conducted warm-ups for the entire squad along with helper moms. Then I was helper mom along with an incharge mom & other helper moms for conducting sports of one group of kids.
Nota Bene: Pakistan is not facing crackdown on homeschoolers cuz there are other sort of crackdowns but let me tell you, there are some countries in the world where homeschooling is a crime & either parents can get arrested or child can be taken into government custody. The reason being, well aap sab aqalmand hein khud he sochein reason.
